Meet The Band…

Vibetown are a collective of some of the UK’s finest session musicians and vocalists. The band have played at over 400 functions, weddings, parties and corporate events across the UK and abroad.

Having worked hard to gain a reputation for being the UK’s number one function, wedding and party band, Vibetown work tirelessly to ensure that each and every show is as good, if not better than their last. The band are booked almost entirely on recommendation and up to 18 months in advance. This in itself is testimonial to how incredible they are at what they do!

A number of musician contribute their musical talents to Vibetown on a regular basis, all work professionally and have worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry.

Please meet some of the regular Vibetown members…

Emily Lynn > Vocals

Emily Lynn is an experienced vocalist from Leeds. She trained from an early age at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts London and graduated with an MA at Leeds College of Music specializing in a cappella vocals. She is currently singing for The international Australian Pink Floyd Show on their world tour. Emily is one of the founding members of Vibetown and also runs a number of her own Acapella Vocal groups that perform throughout the UK.

Mark Walker > Drums

Mark Walker is an exception musician of world class notoriety. Mark has played and toured with some of the biggest British acts of the last 20 years including Eternal, Jocelyn Brown, Simply Red, East17, Blue, Five and Westlife. Mark currently plays with Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child as well as being the full time Drummer for Vibetown.

Matt Sim > Bass

Matt Sim graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2008 with a First Class Honours in performance and composition studies. He has since become an accomplished session musician, composer and teacher. Matt has toured and recorded extensively throughout Europ with English EMI  recording artist Ashley Hicklin and has become a competent session musician renowned for his Bass playing abilities. His has worked with some remarkable musicians, producers and artists, who’s credits include Mariah Carey, Madonna, Depeche Mode and Lauryn Hill.

Rob Yeo > Keys

Rob Yeo is a renowned Piano Keyboard player who graduated from Leeds College Of Music with an MA specialising in Pop and Jazz Music. Having toured with various outfits throughout the UK and internationally Rob has become a very experienced and sort after musician. Rob is one of the founding members of Vibetown who also keeps himself busy doing session work both in the studio and on stage. Rob has worked with Snake Davis from 90′s pop band M People and providing keys for Hamish Stuart of The Average White Band fame. Rob is currently working with London based vocalist and composer Mozez who has written and featured with dance act Zero 7.

Dan Stapleton > Guitar

Dan Stapleton graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2008 and has since go on to perform with a number of varying bands and artists throughout the UK. Dan currently plays guitar for the tribute bands The Total Stone Roses & Oaysis as well as providing string duties for Leeds Indie outfit Cavebirds who have received air play on Radio 1 & 2 amongst others. Dan has played toured the UK a number of times with further dates lined up for Europe in 2012.

Laura Oakes > Vocals

Laura Oakes is the youngest member of Vibetown and is vocalist of immense ability and calibre. Laura is a recent graduate from Leeds College of Music majoring in performance and composition where she received a first. When not performing with Vibetown, Laura can be found performing as a solo artist with ‘The Laura Oakes Band’  and doing session work for up and coming artists.

Colin Sutton > Bass

Colin Sutton is a Bradford based musician who lectures part time at Leeds College of Music. Colin can be found doing session work throughout the UK as well as gigging in a number of different out fits such as The Al Morrison Blues Experience, Bilbao Syndrome and Black Diamond Bay. Colin is an incredibly accomplished bass player who is versatile in many styles from old school Jazz, Hard-Core Thrash Metal to modern Pop and Funk/Soul tunes. He also has about 267 different basses to choose from when gigging.

Darren Watson > Keys

Darren Watson is a Yorkshire based multi-instrumentalist that plays Drums, Bass, Guitar and of course Keys. The latter is what Darren specialises in and occasionally lends his talents to Vibetown. Darren graduated from the esteemed Leeds College of Music in 2008 and has gone on to work professionally as session musician, producer and live performer.

Being an active musician in the North’s music scene, Darren is a sought after musician that is involved in many original projects and studio sessions also.

Jenny Smith > Vocals

Jenny Smith is a prominent figure in the Leeds music scene and can be seen regularly performing Jazz & Blues music in the form of The Jenny Smith Quintet as well as The Al Morrison Blues Experience. Jenny graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2007 and has since gone on the work full times as a professional musician and music educator.

Luke Barrett > Drums

Luke Barrett is a recent graduate from Leeds College of Music leaving with a 1st class degree in Popular Music. Luke has quickly made a name for himself around Leeds and is performing regularly in various projects. Other than playing for Vibetown, Luke has played many times around the country with The Laura Oakes Band & can be spotted in many local clubs playing percussion.

Hannah Hocking > Vocals

Hannah Hocking is a Manchester based vocalist with an attitude and technique that many would die for. Hannah works as a full time musician doing session work and performing with her originals pop/urban outfit Crossfya. Hannah regularly tours across the UK as well as taking a active role in charity work.
